This site is intended to be a resource for folks who are curious about how safe the road bridges are in their area. The map shows information for over 700,000 bridges located in the 50 States, DC & PR. The Data is current as of 1/1/06 and is from the National Bridge Inventory (NBI). Which is produced by the United States Department of Transportation - Federal Highway Administration - Infrastructure Organization. The NBI contains detailed information about bridges in the USA.
Included is a satellite view that allows viewing of the layout of bridges and connecting road and other infrastructure (depending on the quality of the satellite images) The age of the satellite images varies. Don't be surprised if some things have changed.

This site is for information purposes only. Bridge data is not guaranteed, especailly location or plotting of markers. A large percentage of locations are constructed using estimated longitude and latitude data from state government sources. No warranty expressed or implied.
For those interested, this site uses the Google Map API. Bridge data and other information is stored in a MySQL database that is processed via PHP scripts. Plotting of markers on the map is accomplished via AJAX communications in the JSON format with the PHP scripts. Data of the NBI was prased via custom PERL scripts.
